WS: Pre-writing

I have used a number of pre-writing methods explained in the book. I use different or combinations of these methods depending on the subject matter and purpose of the assignment. For essays, I found brainstorming, listing and mapping to be the best methods for me. I can never start drafting an essay without using some sort of pre-writing method. Personally, pre-writing helps me get a better understanding on what I want to write about and helps me pick certain details that best amplify my topic or thesis. It allows me to map out my entire topic and pick specific ones I want to include in my assignment. Pre-writing is not required for writing a successful paper, however, I find this method to be helpful for me to become an improving and effective writer.
