Beginning Rough Draft: Two Teachers

For my paper, I chose Mr. Escalante and Ms. Watson as the two teachers. The focus of my paper is going to be how both teachers played the role of mentors. Mentors are people who understand and listens to people. They support others in where they need the most. I believe one of the characteristics that makes both Mr. Escalante and Ms. Watson is determination. Both teachers were in difficult positions however, both were determined to help their students the best they could. Mr. Escalante showed his determination by pushing his students to take calculus and get college credit. Ms. Watson showed her determination by changing the syllabus and continued to teach art history. They also both advised students when they could. Mr. Escalante helped convince Ana's father to keep her in school. Ms. Watson convinced Joan to apply to Yale Law School. Finally, both teachers taught more than their assigned subjects. They taught lessons that were applicable to real-life like being independent and self-confident.
